New Shtuff

Lots of shtuff in the news:

• I've been busy juggling some projects with Nike Basketball. Shirts and
other cool stuff. Can't post any of it just yet. Soonish....

• I, and a couple of friends, have launched a side project called Posterguise.
Where we'll be making and selling screen printed posters. This first batch
of artworks is a set of three 13X19/ 3 color prints.

• I entered some art into a competition at Infectious. If you get chance, sign up, and vote
for me, please :)

• If you're anywhere near West Berlin check out the Blood Sweat Vector show. I have a
couple pieces on exhibit, alongside some talented folks.

• Also, debating whether I should keep this Livejournal or move everything to an official blog.
Not sure yet...

• As a side note, my apologies to the world for pulling a disappearing act.

A Change of Pace

Starting next month, a couple evenings out of the week, I'm gonna
help my buddy run his bar in downtown..... I did a flyer/poster for
the place.

I'm in dire need of change. There seems to be a lull everywhere I look
in my personal life and witnessing it is agitating. It'll be nice to get some
night air and meet some strangers.

I forgot to mention this illustrator tutorial I created
recently, commissioned by VectorTuts. Preview here.
The fact that I've never had to fully explain and analyze
my process made this project a real challenge. I might
create more of these once I figure out what topic I'd

This is for an art show that Hydro74 is curating and also participating in.
Basically, at the show, you can choose the art you want and it will get
screen printed on a tee shirt. I don't think they'll be selling the originals.
Not sure though... but there are some cool artists involved. Check out

I completely forgot to mention my Elephant tee is now
available at Oddica.com. The colors are a tad bit different
than the original that was sold at TeeFury but just as cool.

I got a couple of artshows lined up within the next
few months. Still working out the kinks as to what
I will be exhibiting.....I gotta admit I'm pretty stoked
about both shows :) .... I'll start posting art concepts
for these 2 shows real soon.

My SPACE-MONKEY tee is up for sale at TEEFURY.
It's being printed on Navy. Originally, I was hoping
for Royal. Teefury didn't have that at hand but the
colors still pop and I'm happy with that :)

This is extremely far fetched, but I sometimes wonder
if all those animals that've been used as test pilots for
space programs will eventually find their way to a higher
form of life. This Alien would revive them, alter their life
force and have 'em seek revenge on us all....

I might submit this to a few tee shirt sites. Haven't decided
which ones yet but I might just try Threadless for the first
time :\

For the past year I've been trying to figure out
how to make time for a semi autobiographical
comic. My plans are to keep it visually simple.
Drawn with felt and ballpoint pens. Drawn like
automatic writing. My influenes at the moment
have been Gipi and T. Martin. Their styles are
fluid and minimal with a great use of negative
space.

I'm calling it Wiggy '83 at the moment. It tells the
story of me living in Silver Lake, during the crime
and crack era. Growing up in an apartment full of
interesting and disturbing tenants. It starts off with
one of my first lessons in pettiness and betrayal.

Freelance, Yapping & Pitching

I'm gonna be 33 this month. Not really in the mood to celebrate.
... but I need to get some air, be happy I've made it this far, quit
being so hard on myself and get happy-drunk :)

My Elephant shirt is gonna go on sale at Oddica sometime this
month. I'm kinda glad I have a few outlets for selling tee shirts.
It's almost easy money. Since I don't have the motivation to sit
in front of a computer at home for very long shirt graphics are
surprisingly exciting. Considering that I do that ALLLL day at the
day job.... but at work it's on someones else's watch and under
a corporations ridiculous sense of art direction.... at home I get
to kick off my shoes, and work in boxers and a tee shirt :)

Lately, I've been working on pitching a group of shirts to the Kid
Robot, Yo Gabba Gabba, clothing label. I can't really show anything
right now but once I pitch it I'll post the artwork right heres....
I've never pitched anything simply because I've never had any
great ideas using someone else's property. It's time I step up
and take these kind of chances.

NIKE SHIRT SHTUFF

I did this almost a year ago. Through
my virtual and occasional rep, Hydro74 :)

It was an intense project with a ton of revisions
and delays. It was created using Adobe Illustrator
I'm not even sure if it was used in the end. I kinda
enjoyed the process where as I'm sure a lot of
artists would have bailed (I'm assuming).

This is what the first version looked like before
any revisions came along:

Oddica's Brian J. was hired from this project
to create a font based on the existing Le Bron
logo. All this done under one tight deadline....
which is usually always the case ;D
